Comet Browser is a new generation “agentic” browser built by AI search company Perplexity. It has artificial intelligence built in to help you get things done faster and easier. It runs on the Chromium framework, so the experience is similar to Google Chrome, but with Perplexity’s AI built right into your browsing experience. It’s designed to act like your personal assistant—guiding you to different tasks across websites and apps.
Key Features:
- Comet Assistant (AI Sidebar): It can summarize web pages, manage your calendar, draft emails, and compare products across multiple tabs.
- Connects to Gmail and Google Calendar: It can summarize your day or schedule a meeting based on your web activity.
- Default AI search engine: Instead of giving you simple search results, it gives you short and reliable answers (with citations).
- Additional smart features: Like grouping tabs by context and voice commands to avoid repeated manual actions.
Availability: Currently in early access and plans to bring a free version. Currently available only to invite or Perplexity Max subscribers.
In short, Comet Browser is changing the way we use the internet—where we used to just search and navigate, it is now going to be a collaborative tool that lets you think and work together.
